On 13th Feb 2022, our PSCF directors Francis and Alex took some time that afternoon to visit Mr. Oh Go Seng. Mr. Oh's story was widely featured in the media, after having lived in the forest for almost 30 years.

He shared that he was unable to apply for a rental flat, as he did not meet the criteria of having a flatmate. He was lucky to be paired up with a relative's colleague who was also applying for a rental flat.

He added that he was unemployed for more than 6 months during the pandemic, after losing his job as an assistant selling plants at 'pasar malams'. He was unable to apply for COVID support grants as the authorities deemed he was not a resident at the address on his IC.

We were touched by how resilient he was, choosing not to ask relatives for help, and instead took on labourous jobs to support his family in Batam. We are glad to know that he has settled in well in his new place. One of our volunteers got him a water heater for more comfortable showers..

We are happy that he has found himself a job as a driver-cum-gardener and passed him some Mandarin Oranges and a red packet, and checked in on his well-being.

Mr. Oh shared that he had that he had previously stayed at Lim Chu Kang and fondly remembers Dr. Tan Cheng Bock's kindness.

Distributing Grocery Vouchers

On 30 Nov 2021, the PSCF team visited residents at Nee Soon GRC to pass them grocery vouchers. We were delighted that the majority of residents we reached out to appreciated this gesture!

Senior Outreach Fund

Our contributions have touched the lives of the people we reached out to. We try to keep in close contact with them and endeavour to do more for the residents in our estates.
